Whenever I log on to my local network with my laptop (Win XP Home SP1), I
get a rather annoying error that a critical update for the broadband
hardware needs to be installed. However, this needs to be done from a
wire-connected system (not wireless) so I installed the management software
on my new desktop (WIN XP Pro SP1a) and when I try to automatically download
the update, it says there are none.

When I try to manually download an update from the MS site, I can't even
find any entries for this unit. (It's an MN-500).

What suggestions does anyone have?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I found out after posting that the update being pushed was to the management
software, not the broadband unit's firmaware.

Since I installed the management software on the other computer from a new
download, it appeared on the one system that no upgrades were available, yet
on the other the upgrade was constantly being urged.

Anyway, this stuff isn't silly-bugger-proof, I guess...

Thanks again for your reply.

I have an interesting problem - when I run the upgrade install, it detects
my basestation but refuses to detect my 720 card. Is there any separate
release of the 720 driver (and/or firmware) which I can download to upgrade
the 720?

You probably don't want to upgrade the driver for your MN 720 anyway. Some
of us have upgraded to the new driver for the MN 720 and experienced a
degradation of signal and loss of connection. Your mileage may vary of
course but just a heads up from someone who has gone through many ups and
downs of troubleshooting the new driver for the MN 720.

I wound up rolling back the driver to the previous version and that restored
signal strength and connection ability. Again, your mileage may vary.

Regards.
