My Feedback

The pages look very "open". There is a lot of white space. In a general way I don't think the overall look is any better, but it looks like there is more information and more control. Taking into account my resistance to change, the new look probably is OK.
I have no moderation access. I see places where I can check a box next to a thread or in a post, but no idea yet what that is supposed to accomplish. Resolved, I had a script disabled.
Apparently the forum snapshot is about 4 days old.
I had new reply notifications, but they would not go away once clicked. They remained in the list... perhaps this is intended so that I don't miss replying to a thread because I clicked on it?
Without access to this forum in the beta it makes it harder to post things here... but then I'll just open another browser for that I guess.

I seem to have most functionality.
When you delete one post from a thread the post remains checked. Trying to delete a second post in the same thread results in an error as you must first manually de-select the other post.
There is no way to edit another users post within a thread. The only way to do so currently is to create an alert for the post and then edit the post from the alert panel.

When I made a random post a sticky, it seemed to disappear and I was sent to another post that I had not posted in... After a few seconds the new sticky did appear in the right place though.
In another thread, I selected to "change type" then checked "tech support question" and hit OK. I got a 404 message. This DID result in the thread being marked with a wrench icon though, so it seems to have worked.
EVERY TIME I make a thread a sticky (Or unsticky a thread) I am redirected to the new post from Rnadomizer titled "I'm an old woman."
Apparently, a moderator discussions forum does exist. I just moved a thread there. However, I can't access it or even see the forum.

We really MUST have the option to ban a user from a post.
Example:
I browse through the Entertainment section and come across this common spam:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/1929-54-gets-lead-sis...
I need to be able to click the username and then nuke all this person's posts and their account. I have no way to do this. Instead, ALL I can do is report the post. From the alerts screen I can then finally moderate the user. Way too cumbersome.

Hey Proximon,
Here are some answers to your findings:
"No moderation from the main forum page" - we have considered this, it is just not as easy as we would have expected, so it slept under the pile of things to do for now. We'll need to get back to it, would it be just to provide an easy access to alerts. Note that the Alerts moderation tab in your profile page gives you a complete overview of the alerts in your sections.
"In another thread, I selected to "change type" then checked "tech support question" and hit OK. I got a 404 message." - See my answer to Randomizer... Basically this tech support feature is not supported yet. This won't be an issue on the new system when it goes live. Tech support will come out sometime in the future, but not right now.

Hey,
Did you follow the instructions here to make sure your e-mail is correct:
Q. Why am I not receiving email notifications in the new platform test?
A. When your account was ported over, it may have had the bomnotifications2@gmail.com email set as a part of the beta test. If you'd like to get confirmations and notifications, be sure to change your email address in your profile page.

I checked the e-mail address I enered is correct and still it hasn't arrived. If I don't get the first confirming e-mail of my changed address, it follow that I can't get mailed notifications of replies.
On another issue and outside of the Beta,, the "old" site is behaving badly this morning in the UK. The "hide the right column" link is mainly hidden and broken which makes the site unreadable on a netbook. Is this part of the porting over?
Definitely not the Beta - this is my server running XP and the Beta is isolated in a Linux system I haven't even had time to turn on yet today. I have a screenshot and as soon as I find the Upload button, I'll post it but the best way to describe this is that the "Hide the right" buttons crashes into the "Profile" "No thread" No Messages" buttons.
Someone else posted a complaint about this earlier.

Proximon,I'm not sure what you mean. From any posting, you should be able to click a user's name to bring up his profile. Then if you click "sanction" You can ban him and remove all his posts. I know right now its only posts from the last 24 hours, but that will be fixed.
Justin
I don't think I have any such sanction button. Proxy Switchy is not doing anything for me this morning, I'm still on the regular forums... so I can't check.
Proximon,
can you please confirm that you do not see a sanction button on the profile of a random user? such as http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/profil-1097468.htm . Since you show up as being a moderator, I'd like to know if there is something special with your account. First, please change the default email in your profile to the real one. Maybe the problems simply originates from the system considering your email as NOT CONFIRMED. Second, have you created your proximon account on th.com or th.co.uk or tomsguide.com? It would help to know.
Thanks,
Justin

Thanks for looking into it, Justin but as Mousemonkey confirms, it's still there. The link fails to work now but was at least clickable before - this I know because it turned purple after clicking it before the ad showed up, even though it did nothing. It almost seems as though the Right Column is blocked by the advert and therefore can neither be seen nor hidden.
Is there a clue in the fact that only some of us are seeing this?
SR-71 Blackbird,
Could you open a new thread about that?
As for the other issue, the developer says he has found another fix. It will be part of the next release. That should roll out sometime next week.
I'm not sure why some people see it and some don't. It may be that certain ads interfere with it since its in the sidebar. I'm not sure on that one. We had a bug similar to this before, and it was eventually resolved.
