Gateway Select 1300 Won't Boot Up

Our Gateway Select 1300 just powers up the fan but doesn't post the BIOS
at all. The monitor screen stays black. We finally booted in after 4 to
5 power up attempts. Is the motherboard suspect?

Running Windows 98 Second Edition 4.10.2222 A
AMD Athlon Process
511 MB RAM

Open the case and look for bulging or leaking electrolytic capacitors on the
mainboard. They are the small cylindrical components in various areas. They
should be perfectly flat on top. If you have any bulging or leaking, you
need a new mainboard or you may be able to get it fixed here:
