Hi there,

I just wanted to get an idea from others in the group who sent their
playfields to get restored at Playfield Rennovations - what kind of quotes
did you get? I know it varies depending on condition and wear, but just
wanted a ballpark figure.

I sent them pictures of my funhouse playfield, which appears to be in better
condition than Bretts which is listed on the website - it had full mylar and
mylar in the pops, so the wear isn't bad, just in the usual places and
outholes, ball swirls in blue, etc.

They quoted me $550 to $750 for a full restoration. Is this a fair price?
I've heard great things about them and am very interested, I just want to
make sure the quote is fair before I commit.

Thanks alot guys,
Kyle

I don't think that's unreasonable considering the amount of rework an
average FH PF needs. These seem to be played to death and as you mentioned
show a lot of swirl marks.

Just because parts are mylared does not mean they will not need substantial
rework to make it look new again.

If you touch an area that is a certain shade of blue, you're going to need
to repaint all the areas on the PF that are that shade of blue. That seems
to be the only way to guarantee a match.

Your other option would be to wait awhile and see what Wayne comes out with.
A repro FH PF for $600 might be a real possibility in a few months.

You will be very happy with what you get back from Chris and Jim - top notch
service. I'm trying to finish up stripping CFTBL and HS2 PF's to send out to
them.

That price sounds like it's in the ballpark. Removing mylar from a
non-DP playfield can be perilous. Where the mylar is removed there is
usually discoloration that requires repainting many areas. It's very
labor intensive work.

I have talked to Jim extensively about this and he says system 11 and early
WPC pin playfields are the toughest to do. Massive insert damage when mylar
is taken off.
Plus all the touch ups of non mylared areas with discoloration.
Just try to get them to restore a BoP playfield. go ahead. :)
so to answer your question, the time involved in making a non-DP playfield
nice makes the price high and I don't think that quote is out of line at
all.
You can be guaranteed that the playfield will look gorgeous when you get it
back.
