Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has ever dishwashed rubber rings out of a pin?
Would it be fine or would they be sent brittle from the washing liquid?
Thanks.

Use "blech wite" from the auto store. You don't HAVE to take them
off...

No dishwasher. Dishwashers are for dishes, not
pinball parts.

Westley's Blechewhite or Castrol Super Clean.
Remove, then soak them in a cup or shallow pan.
Rinse thoroughly and dry before installing.
Both of these cleaning products can damage your
game if you get it anywhere else.

Put the dishes you used for this in the dishwasher...

Hi all,

Just recently read (somewhere on line) that you can clean white rubber
rings as well as "condition" them for longer use by using paste wax on
them. I took the white rings off my King Pin and tried rubbing paste
wax into them and they cleaned right up nicely. Worked like a Hot Damn.

And Bleche Wite is for tires. :)

RC-88 on a rag, apply rag to dirty rubber, *Presto!* no more dirty
rubber.

Rubber posts can easily be cleaned with a large eraser, works well for
finger smudges as well. Give it a shot :) makes yellow post rubber
look brand new.

Hmmm, actually, it's a rubber cleaner.

Cleaning whitewall rubber tires was just a good
marketing plan! ;)

I use a product called cp-100, work like a charm, removes all dirt and
conditions the rubber itself.

I just use 100% isopropyl alcohol.

Never tried the dishwasher, put some in and let us know what happens!

alcohol does clean the rubber quickly but it also dries it out
instantly. In short order the rubber will be cracked.

If the rubber rings aren't shot, it would be a lot easier to just polish
them with Novus 2.

For "spot cleaning" like this, I use CP-100 to get dirty fingerprints etc.
off rings. Works fantastic.

For real? These are nickel-and-dime parts- buy new ones- you'll invest more
time and money/cost trying to wash old used ones- and still probably not get
near as good results.

We have over 1000 rubber ring kits in stock- starting at $10-
www.actionpinball.com And we ship worldwide.

CP-100 does work great. Advertised as a playfield cleaner/polish, but
actually does a very poor job of cleaning/polishing the playfield (IMHO).
Works like magic to clean and restore rubber rings/bumpers though- I use it
all the time for this.

For playfield cleaning/polishing, I use Diamond Bright. Best stuff, IMHO.

And both are ironically made by the same company (Gemini).... Go figure.

I would think that alcohol would prematurely contribute to the drying-out of
the rubber. Rings will dry out/dessicate over time naturally- they lose
their elasticity (bounce), dry, crack, and rot. Then need to be replaced
(preferably before they get this bad though).

Alcohol is a dessicant, so I wouldn't think this would be the best stuff to
use on rubber... But I could be wrong- never did well in chemistry. ;)
Just a thought....

I use GOOP Hand cleaner, (works great on score reels too). Just slather
it on and wipe it off. I've never had it ruin plastics or anything else
on a playfield and it gets all the gunk off your hands in the process.
Of course, if the rubbers are showing any sign of wear, I just replace them.

Oooo, be careful using that on score reels! There
are a few out there that will take the ink right
off of those. It can happen to games made by the
same manufacturer even.
