Do I install this program onto the card and internal memory, both, of my T3?
If I go to internal memory, run the program (back up the palm) - do the back
up files go on the sd card? This is what I want - in case I lose the
internal memory, I have the files on the card. If I want scheduled back ups
at 1AM, and set the program in the internal memory to back up at 1 AM, and
the program on the card is not set for scheduled backups, is this ok?
Apparently if you set the program on the sd card to backup by schedule it
won't happen. Thanks for any advice.

Only programs in memory get to run. So you are right. One copy in
memory, and one on the card for recovery.

Speaking of Backupman...
Fairly frequently when it runs a scheduled backup (I have it do this
twice a week, middle of the night) to SD card, my T/E is battery-dead in
the morning. Yes, I have Backupman set to turn off display when backup
is finished. And the Palm itself is set to kill the display after two
minutes. And if I watch it, the display does, indeed extinguish.
Battery status is irrelevant -- it can do this from a full charge.
Anyone else seen this? (It's not fatal, because it happens right after
a full backup; but it's certainly a pain in the rear.)

I think you have something else installed that is killing the battery.
I've used BackupMan on a Zire 71 and a T3, and never had this happen.
When the Palm turns off, it should use minimal battery power, only
enough to keep the clock ticking and housekeeping functions. If
BackupMan is turning it off, then something else is turning it on. Do
you have any other alarm apps installed?
For the OP - Yes put it on the card and in RAM. On the card, it isn't
running and has no idea what time it is, so it can't do a backup. No
alarm app will work from the card. It makes no difference what you set
it for. The backup always goes to the SD card, not to memory. After a
hard reset, BackupMan is gone from memory, so you have to have it on the
card to do a restore.

Right.

Nope. I don't even run alarms on my calendar events.

Well, all I can say is that I've been using it for well over a year and
never had a problem. Of course, I don't have a T|E, either.

Never had a problem with it. I own a TT. And in my case, the unit is
in its cradle when the backup kicks in at 6:00.
