CRC error with SD card

I want to put some large files on an SD card to use with my palm so I bought
a Kingston 256MB SD card. I thought I would plug the SD card into a card
reader I have and transfer the files directly to the card but after the
first few files I got a CRC error message (using windows XP). I tried
adding some smaller files but I still get the error. However, the card will
take more files if I transfer them from the Palm (Tungsten E) to the card.
The card reader works fine with another 32MB card I have though so I don't
know if it's a card problem, a card reader problem, or a combination of
both. The card reader is some really generic one that came packaged with a
digital camcorder I bought last year. It's only identifying marks are the
model number CR-V7-UD. I think it's made by a-tech but their website was no
help.
Any ideas on this?
