You sure? He did get some of the fans & LEDs working ya know. To me that indicates that the powersupply is functioning. The powersupply could be faulty or partially functional, but I'm leaning towards the CPU being dead or not socketed properly, or even not attached in some rare instances.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

its not a new comp ive had it for about a year and it was working fine, when i turned it on there was no pops or smells so i dont rekon nethin has blown up. I dont think the cpu is the problem because of it working fine before. Does anyone think it is the motherboard itself??? if so do i need to replace it or can i fix it? thanx

Hmm. It could be a million things but I am personally leaning towards the power supply and/or the motherboard. (The motherboard only because so many were made with faulty capacitors that you just have to suspect mobos as the culprit these days.)

When's the last time that you cleaned the dust out of your PC? And have you tried using a can of compressed dry air to clean out all of the dust since the failure?

And what processor type is in there? And what has the room temperature been like for you lately? It's unlikely, but it might have just been a burnout. **shrug**

I had the same issue and it was the motherboard. Try clearing the CMOS and see if that works, if not I would think MOBO or RAM.
