Am really confused here. You removed former display adapter, then installed
a new one. At the same time, you added more ram. At that point the DVD
player didn't work. And, the DVD player is making access audible
indications when inserting a DVD.
Don't believe this is a operating system problem.
You didn't indicate installing any display adapter driver for the new
display adapter. Nor did you indicate removing the former driver or
changing to the default display adapter in windows prior to changing the
display adapter physically.
You didn't note if windows sees the added ram.
You didn't indicate if you opened up the PC again to verify you didn't jar
the ide connector on the DVD reader by reseating that connector.
From appearances, you just lackadaisically threw some stuff in the PC. Now
you're here.
