Xp or windows 7?

Hello,
i have a gateway mx6956 laptop that came with XP installed. 6 months ago i installed windows 7 and it seems glichy and seems like the laptop is not fully compatable with it. should i put XP back in or what.. please help...

Did you run the windows 7 upgrade assistant first to make sure your hardware is compatible? I don't know if it's still available on microsoft's site as it seems to have been replaced with the windows 8 upgrade assistant.

1) If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
•1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
•1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
•16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
•DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

2) You meet the Min requirements for Windows 7 32 bit, if 64 bit 2 gigs of ram is listed as min and you only have 1 gig (unless you have upgrade) However i suggest going to 2 gigs.

3) How did you do the install, as a Upgrade, or a clean install and was it 32 or 64 bit.

4) did you go to gateway support page and:
.. (A) Update your Bios to the latest version
Latest is ver 77.12 dtd 08/03/2010
.. (B) Install windows 7 drivers for your hardware.
OPPs they do not list windows 7 drivers only goes up to Vista
.... So need to go to indivual Venders for Win 7 drivers.
......... For ahci, chipset and Video go to Intel
......... For Audio, go to Sigmatel
