Hey guys I found a new bug in windows and windows apps.
Today for hours I was trying to figure out why this
Computer a friend of mine constantly was crashing, with
Apps and app installs I even clean installed windows. I
Gave up and thought it was a hardware failure.
Turns out when I looked at the system clock to remind myself of the date,
to figure out when I can come back it was set to
September 14, 2053.
I turned back the system clock and
Presto the apps suddenly work, the installs are not
Crashing anymore, and all around the system is suddenly
Working fine.
An Y2.053k bug? Hey this is a new one for the books!!!!
Thought you guys would get a laugh out of this one.
Some of the apps effected, AOL install 7.0 McAfee
Virus scan 6.0 and 6.02 update, Microsoft Encarta and
Picture it from the works 2001 DVD suite.
I did some research on my own computer and found the following out: A new version of the Y2K bug, to be exact Jan 18th 2038 at 7:14:08 pm PST. the problem is the following windows media player 8 and Encarta 2001 and picture it publishing, AOL 7.0 install virus scan 6.0 will not work beyond this date and time, Now this is what I call making us renters, Yeah we don't own the software we rent it and if we use it beyond the time they want us to there is some sort of bug. terramir I think they'll fix it by then though

This is a 'bug' that's been around since Windows 95. If you go into the date and time options, you'll see that it says to interpret a two-digit year as a date between 1930 and 2029. I haven't tried this myself, but I imagine if you increase the 2029 you should be able to set the system date to a year beyond 2029.
