So what do you guys think? Is intel's little spoiler (before Scotty drops by) enough to steal some of A64's thunder or not?

If Aceshardware already has the samples (a 3.2 and a 3.4Ghz P4EE), then Intel has been sending P4 EEs around... And hardware review sites have already received A64s for reviews... so are we going to see A64 vs P4EE by tuesday or not? And is A64 going to perform admirably against a 3.4Ghz Northwood with 2MB L3 cache?... Interesting stuff...

Mind you, aceshardware already promised 3 new CPUs in their reviews by tuesday...

Damn, man, that means 2.6 and 2.8GHZ speeds are not gonna come too easy if air compressor cooling was used.

It does make me wonder how far will the 0.13m process go.

That aside, a 2.8 is a surefire Intel killer by far.

29000 in 3DMark2k1?! do they know you're not supposed to test at 640x480?

Yeah, they did tested in 1024x768 but I don't get it though. What's your problem if it really hits 29000 in 3DMark01? Is it insulting to you or something?

I just don't get it. I for example have an Athlon XP 1800+. When I bought it, it was the best choice for my needs and an excellent product. But not anymore. If I had to built a new system nowadays I would probably go with P4P800 & P4 2.6c. When I will upgrade sometime next year maybe Athlon FX will be my choice or Prescott. Technology changes and we all have to move on. That's the reason that I finally moved from Nvidia to ATI a couple of months ago. Some people though can't accept this fact! It's like they think that it will be bad for them, if what they bought is not considered the best anymore. Grow up!

D00d! I was kidding, I meant that 29000 is so ridiculously high it's almost impossible. I'd be the first one to admit that what I bought sucks (Like my G4 440MX at the time...) cause I don't bother that much having being screwed (not as much as other people at least).

Shush those futuremark guys will be pissed if you point out that the score of 29000 is impossible at that clock speed. Unless its at 640x480 and the video card is cranked to the balls.

But 3dMark is never that strongly affected by the processor. it's a Vid card benchy.. yeah I would happily accept that it scores higher than a system with a PIV or an XP, but considering OC freaks are managing ~25000 points with Oced Radeon 9800 cards, I just can't see merely replacing the processor gaining 4000 marks. 1000 maybe, but 4000? seems awfully high.

Although I guess maybe the revised Memory system might make it have more of an impact than you'd expect...

Well, I guess we'll all know for sure soon.
