Just out of curiousity, what CPU are you using in your main PC. The PC you use everyday, not the PC on order, the CPU that is your workhorse.

Mines a 1700+. I need to order a 2500+ simply because of how cheap it would be an give me a great perfomance increase. I'd run mine at 2800+ though.
The beauty of AMD.

I had innumerable problems with my via chipsets. KT133,KT133A and KT266A.
You should also get a 2500+ unless your waiting for the Prescott.

It would be pointless on a 8KHA+, either lack of support, or simply that it won't perform that much better. I am looking for a quantum leap of over 2x performance, and that's up to the next generation AMD or Intel. I ain't switching till next year for sure.

I'm running the XP2500, A7N8X Deluxe & a gig of Hyper X 3200. Changed to a 12.5 multiplier & went to 2800 speeds before I loaded the OS. Sweet chip I'm telling you.

BTW, I took out a XP2400, A7V8X MOBO & 2 x 256 Hyper X 2700 & stuck it on the shelf. Yes, going slower was faster.

I've got to get rid of my old stuff before it's not worth anything though. Been setting there for a few months now.

I have a P4 2.4C @2.8 or 3.0 depends of the weather (on hoter days I can't overclock so much...)

AAAhhhh! This is a bad country to have a computer!

Mine is a P3 550Mhz on a P3V133 (I think) and some reasonably low-latency memory (I checked the other day, can't really remember) with a 15GB HD on a ... ATA-66 interface, I think. Diamond Viper II with 32MB memory as a video card... AGP2x, of course... Getting slow and awkward to work with! This was top of the line when we bought it, so it's old...

I'm thinking about getting a completely new computer by late 2003 or maybe early 2004...

I'm running a 700mhz Athlon with 192megs of ram, 20 gig hd, 32mb tnt2-m64, on a Gigabyte mb that I can't remeber the name of it. Was top of the line when we built it though.

celeron 1.1 oc'd to 1.4. (I know it's a celeron, but I'm not paying $400 dollars for the P3 1.4. Besides, it's a tulatin core, so it's all good). 512MB of pc 133 running on a Epox 3vsa2 mb using the Via Apollo Pro chipset. That, and my 9600 Pro.

As each day goes by, I hug my 9600Pro just a little tighter.

My main PC is a XP1700+ @ 2.25Ghz (196x11.5 1.575Vcore), with 512Mb of Corsair at 2-2-2-4 on an EPox 8RDA+

My secondary PC (the second player in LAN games) is a XP2000+(pally) @ 1.4Ghz (112x12.5, 1.7-1.8Vcore(wobbles around alarmingly)... Can't get any more speed out of it - I reckon the Voltage controllers are shot, and it's overvolting the NB (Crappy VIA Asus A7V333) so can't cope with higher speeds..

Hey, I have the same mobo and almost the same CPU! Mine is 1700+, don't overclock because right now I have enough power for what I'm doing. Also memory is not up to par to run with aggressive timings higher than 138, so not worth.

About 2500+ for it, I expect to buy it in a couple of months, hope prices have gone down again. I know I can't squezee all the power of this CPU, but for fun and experience porposes I want to try. I don't even know if it would post! But if it doesn't run ok, I will sale it on eBay and I hope I won't lose too much money. But I wanna try!

P4 2.53GHz on a Gigabyte GA-8INXP. Despite a couple of glitches after first getting it together (namely the AGP 3.0 not being quite up to spec with the Granite Bay chipset), it works great.

Asus is known to overvolt north briges, some of their BX boards ran a 3.4 or 3.45v NB as opposed to intel's 3.3v spec.
