this is causing me some distress as I can't even reload XP Home as it came
with my PC alreadt loaded with just a Rescue ddisc which SP2 has invalidated.
The dump I get fro Dr Watsons is below, I hope someone can help me.

How does sp2 invalidate the restore cd?
I thought you just stick it in and reboot.
backup your data you want to keep.
Get a windows 98se boot disk from http://www.bootdisk.com
Note if file system is NTFS
You will need to use FDISK*
delete the partition.
If it Fat32 you can start here
Reboot with floppy
Then Format the Drive C
Now remove floppy
insert the restore cd.
Reboot
(*Just in case your system has a hidden restore partition-just make
sure you only delete the activate partition)
If you don't have a floppy Drive-you can use windows 98 setup cd.
Choose boot from cd Choose boot with system with cd-rom support.
It will create a virtual drive A Fdisk will be on Drive a: Format
will be located on the cd drive in the folder win98
