Usb keyboard does not work in boot up

Hello,
i found 2 towers in the trash when i put a harddrive in it keyboard doesnt work or mouse and sometime the montior doesnt work. when i take the harddrive out everything work fine. i tried 3 harddrives

Maybe that's why it was in the trash ! **

Seriously, check that the hard drive is being connected correctly -- if it's older IDE type also make sure that the single/slave/master jumper is set as appropriate.

Get into the BIOS and check that everything there looks correct, like boot order is set to boot from the HD.
