I have replaced the EOS with a brand spanking new one. Still

try to fix it :)

>Can diodes on the coil cause this?

Flipper chatter is caused by the hold coil not holding.

The hold and power coils are fired and then the power is opened with
the hold remaining on. Check to see if the wire is broken off of either
lug (hold is the smaller wire). Most of the time that is where I find
the problem.

Sounds like the hold coil wire is broken. So, when the high power
pulls the plunger in, the EOS opens, there's no hold coil to hold it
in, and it comes down - closing the EOS and repeating the cycle -

This is caused by the hold winding in the coil being open. Can "look good"
but you may just have an open winding deep inside the coil. Usual fix is to
just replace it.

We have replacement flipper coils if you need one- see our site at:
www.actionpinball.com for more info.

I got an old Harlem Globetrotters playfield (complete) will this coil
work? looks like it will

Thanks a lot guys, never had this happen on a flipper coil. Could be
possible that sometime in its life when the coil was changed they
knocked the wire for that side of the coil off the terminal. I will
investigate tonight.

Dunno why im fixing it, Del has a complete nice playfield. I guess Im
just bored.

Same physical dimensions. May be different in strength. Give it a shot.

I usually upgrade my Stern games to Bally AQ-25-500/34-4500 coils as they're
a tad stronger and really give good performance (original Stern coils are of
course no longer available but Bally ones are same size). I think we have
these Bally coils listed on our website- see: www.actionpinball.com

terminal.
