1_What is your budget? $500 can be a little more but want to stay close to 500 before taxes.

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 14'-16'

3_What screen resolution do you want? At least 720

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? portable

5_How much battery life do you need? 6-cell battery should be fine

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Don't play games, need it for internet, bills, a movie or two.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing,watching movies, Etc.)

just need a basic laptop for my father in his 50's

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?

320gb +

Here are two I compared kinda high on the price range but wanted to know if an intel i3 core would be worth the extra, want this laptop to last 5+ years

I want to keep the laptop 5+ if possible, I want to ride it out for as long as I can, with the possibly of an upgrade here and there.

11_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

I have a Toshiba currently and really like it never had a problem with it yet, and it seems a lot of people I talk to also like their Toshiba's. I'm open to other brands just looking for something reliable.

I would prefer to buy it from a brick and mortar (e.g. bestbuy) store or online from a reliable online company (e.g. dell, newegg...)
