Looks like it could be promising, but in the end, one has to remember it's not a whole lot more than a lappy port, not really a real change from the desktop other than the inclusion of powernow and such. Some dismal figures in a couple of the benchies, but it has some potential. Decent battery life, but kinda shot down when it's running so hot at it's full 1.8 some ghz. Ouch! Up to 85 watts from the mobile A64 3000+, that's not a good sign for SOI and .13 um. No heatspreader either :frown:

 I run my AthlonXfx at 7.65 Exahertz

the heat production is no match against a centrino low voltage.

Interesting review, but what about comparing performance thoroughly? Sometimes, they use a 2.53Ghz P4 as reference, then, they use a 2.2Ghz, then a 2.4Ghz, then... It's a bloody mess! Plus, Intel has mobile P4s up to 3.2Ghz now...

Besides, a comparison with a 1.7Ghz (note similar clock rates!) Centrino-based notebook might be interesting... I'm willing to bet that Pentium M has at least the same IPC as A64 mobile...

I'd be inclined to agree. If I remember correctly, the Pentium Ms (Centrino) are base on PIII architecture. PIII's had roughly the same IPC ratings as the original Athlons. Pentium M is probably a bit higher. Of course Athlons have improved their IPC ratings as well. An Interesting comparison.

Can a centario be put into an old 815 motherboard? or a p4 board?

Not an old one... but maybe a new one:
