Gamepad problems

Hello everybody.
Today I bought a Canyon CNG-GP2 gamepad and it functions perfectly on my PC. When I plug it in my notebook, however, the right analog stick is not calibrated. It looks like this:

The cross can be moved only horizontally and not vertically. I tried calibrating, downloaded the newest drivers and searched for hours with no result.
It is centered and works well on my PC.

My Notebook is ASUS X51RL and running Windows XP (not sure which swervice pak).

If nothing else works, I'll try reinstalling Windows, but I thought I sould ask here first.

P.S. Sorry for the bad english...

First, try updating to service pack 3 to ensure that it is up to date. I suspect that it has something to do with XP compatibility. You can also try updating the chipset to ensure that the USB controllers are up to par.

I checked and the notebook is with service pack 2, but so is my PC. I am going to update and report but I can't imagine what may be causing this.

Sorted everything out. It turned out that some drivers for a Trust gamepad, that I had installed were doing this problem. Once I uninstalled them everything worked fine.
