For the past few weeks I have been getting frequent Windows Explorer.exe crashes. So far, every crash has been/can be linked to updating, Skype, Kasperksy, and ATI Radeon video drivers, another crash has occurred with a windows update, but there was a Skype update in it. I also had a crash when attempting to delete/remove Skype from my hard drive.
The only way for me to get explorer.exe running again is to restart in safe mode with command prompt and do a rstrui.exe. I've tried to start a new task and running explorer.exe but noting happened.
So far I have; ran a virus check (negative), downloaded and ran Rkill, and terminated the processes it noticed, then ran a Malwarebytes and removed 2 effected files.
Outside of resetting to factory settings I'm lost on what to do.
Computer is about 3 years old. I was planning on building a new computer and using my current hard drive but I would like to either have this problem fix (or at least know whats causing it) before building a new one and having the same problem.
