Is the voice control in the advance remotes that come with new smart TVs any good?

As far as I know only Samsung and LG TV offer that feature in India. I can vouch for LG’s Magic Motion Remote as if I currently using one with my smart 3 D TV. You just bring the remote close to your mouth and give the command to change channels or flip between different applications. Though it didn’t solve the problem of “who has the remote?” in my house.

I'm about to buy one for myself so I have been researching about new smart tv models. Both Samsung and LG have voice recognition feature but they are a bit different. Samsung has the mic on the top of the screen and LG has it in the remote control. I assume the further the mic is, the easier to get interfered with other noise. I'm not so sure... I'm gonna go to a store and try both.

It's helpful. I've used the magic remote with the mic for voice recognition and it makes navigation and browsing easier. You should go to the shops and try it personally.

Of course. Imagine you have to type in every single letter with the arrow buttons, it must be so frustrating.
