Hello All-

I have a Jetway HZ03-GT which has a Coaxial SPDIF output built in. I also have an old Aiwa sound system which has an Optical SPDIF input. Is there a way to make this work? I had thought perhaps some sort of converter might exist, but I haven't found scads of them online.

Also, my motherboard includes what is referred to as an HDMI-SPDIF Out header on the motherboard itself... can this be connected to the Optical Input on the stereo perhaps somehow?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm very new to any audio tech.

Thanks!

Creating a conversion between HDMI and Coaxial would probably be easier than converting from Optical to Coaxial.

With the Optical=>Coaxial conversion, you would need a device that decodes and transforms the light signal into a regular one for the cable. However, in HDMI, you would just cut the video signal off and let the audio signal continue, because the wires are the same, just different connectors.

If I understand you correctly, I would look for a HDMI=>Coaxial conversion.
