I have a Dell 4100 desktop and harman/kardon speakers. The one main speaker
doesn't work and I can't tell what is wrong. Everything is plugged in. It
worked last week. What could be the problem?

The best way to trouble-shoot this kind of problem is to have a second set
of speakers and plug different bits in. See if you can borrow a set of
speakers from a friend.
Before doing that, check that evrything is plugged in correctly, etc

the balance? have you done any troubleshooting yet in Control Panel/Sound?
you running WinME?
when you say the one main speaker, what *exactly" do you mean? the is no
"main" speaker. do you mean the sub-woofer? How many speakers do you have?
do you have a seperate sound card?

What do you mean by "main" speaker? Left, right, or
sub-woofer?
If the right speaker is not working, it is usually because
the plug is not pushed in all the way or that a segment of
the plug is not making good contact. Make sure the plug is
pushed in as far as it will go, then twist the plug left and
right a few times to ensure contact.

Also, this can sometimes occur with powered speakers from various
manufacturers in the event of a momentary power brownout. Power off your
system, unplug the speakers from your computer's sound ports, unplug the
speaker power , then plug them back in, plug them back into your computer's
ports, then power up your system. This may resolve the issue.

Thanks everyone. There were several power outages from storms and I guess
that was what happened to my speaker. After some fiddlin around, it works
again. Thanks for the help.
