can i safely put my 2700+ to 200fsb with stock cooling+1foot fan shooting air in the case. I dont want to change multiplier and my mobo adjust the voltage with fsb.
my mobo is a7n8x-x and my ram is ddr 400.

hoh and if my cpu is getting too hot will my mobo shut it down in time.

THE MISSING "i" WAS KILLING THAT THREAD

My own beast: Athlon 2700xp+ , Radeon 9800pro (oc: 400/360) , 512mb ddr400. SO MUCH faster than my father pIII 550......
Edited by coylter on 10/18/03 10:08 PM.

You can't unless you lower your multiplier. It is impossible for your CPU to POST at 13*166MHz=2600MHz. And most of the time increasing the FSB to 200MHz you'll have to crank up the vcore. And even you lower the multiplier I still say the stock HSF is inadequate to cool a overclocked 2700+ unless you underclock it.

Me fail English? That's Unpossible!

You're joking, right? You can barely overclock to 2600mhz+ on watercooling, let alone the basic aluminum stock heatsink and a gigantic fan. No way, the most you *might* get is 2300mhz or so.

 I run my AthlonXfx at 7.65 Exahertz
