How can I tell that I got the 2500+ Barton chip?

By the alphanumerics on the processor's label. And/Or by a CPU/system information application such as <A HREF="http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php" target="_new">CPU-Z</A> if the processor is in a working system.
