ISSUE #1:

I replaced the 5-4-3-2-1 drop targets in my Flight 2000 with new repro's
from Pinball Resource. After a lot of messing around, I got them in and
the bank reassembled.

My problem is that if they are hit lightly, they work perfectly. If a
shot goes straight at them, hard, and square - the ball just goes
'klonk' and bounces off without dropping the target.

What can I do to fix that problem? Adjust the little 'triggers' that
are attached to the solenoids for resetting/dropping the targets?

ISSUE #2:

On the 3-bank, Occasionally a ball will hang up on top of one of the
targets. It'll happen if the top one/two are dropped and the ball comes
through slow. It'll sit on the top edge of the lowermost standing
target and it's impossible to dislodge without tilting (rather
violently).

Any ideas how to fix that one?

Thanks in advance..
-Mark.

This symptom usually means you have too large of rubber rings behind the
targets- the rings are sticking out too far (loose on the posts) and come in
contact with the backs of the targets. Try a smaller ring which will fit
tighter on the posts and stay away from the targets. That may help.

Been a while since I looked at a Stern bank unit but if I remember right
there is a bar on one side (front?) of the target bank that can be adjusted
up/down by loosening the two screws on either end. Maybe try that, or look
for a similar method of making adjustment to the depth at which the target
may fall.

Interesting point. There is a 2" (or so) rubber ring stretched around
two posts behind them. I'm not sure if I can do anything to move that
back short of drilling new holes, but I'm curious if there's anything I
can do to move the bank forward a smidgen..

That's not quite the problem..

When I say 'on top', it's not vertically 'on top' - it's horizontally
'on top' - as in, closer to the backglass. So, it rolls down and rests
against the backglass facing vertical edge of the lowest drop target
that is still standing. It looks like this:

o <--- ball (sitting on top of fallen drop target)
| <--- standing drop target
| <--- standing drop target

It's as if the rubber behind this bank is too far back allowing it to
sit there. Again, not sure how this could be adjusted..

Thanks for the suggestions, Ray..

May be worth looking at. But if you move too far forward you run the risk
of the targets not being able to stay up. When they come up, they have to
fall a tad forward to "latch" and stay up.

Okay- if the targets are in fact level (or slightly higher) than the
playfield surface, then yes- I'd focus on maybe bringing the post out
further- or try a larger rubber ring- may be enough to keep the ball out of
there.

Good luck!

That might be a design flaw in F2K as I've gotten the ball stuck there
on mine also. Maybe put a thin rubber bumper type thing under the
metal arm in the target mech to get it to stay up just a bit over the
PF so that it's not "flat", or put 2 rubber rings on the posts behind
that bank. (one below the other).

It's so cool when you hit the right spinner off the left flipper and
sweep that bank.....
