Help with my AMD Barton 2500

Hi,

I just put together my fist PC with the following specs and have a question...

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Processor 256MB DDR PC2700 Memory
60GB 7200RPM ATA100/133 Hard Drive
52X CDROM Drive
400 watt Mid-Tower Case
Asus A7V8X-X Motherboard
ATI Radeon 7500
I plan on adding another 256MB DDR PC2700 next week.

Everything went together with no problems and I loaded Win XP. I installed all the drivers but when I look at the Bios the AMD Barton only shows up running a 1.4 and not 1.83. Is there someting not set right?

In the BIOS, set "CPU External Frequency" to "166/33"

Ditto on that. Your CPU is running at 133mhz and needs to be set to 166 (166x11=1826) Your mobo will default to the lowest clock cycle, especially ASUS boards, to be on the safe side.
