Looking for a Netbook Tags: Computer Netbooks Laptops Last response: March 30, 2010 6:29 PM in Laptops & Notebooks Share jakew120 March 30, 2010 3:41:38 AM Hello, I'm basically looking for a supplemental netbook for the computer I am building. (New computer building and there is a ton of research. *on overload*) 1_What is your budget? Less than 500 dollars. Even less than 400 is possible. 2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? Does not matter. 3_What screen resolution do you want? Something that won't strain my eyes. 4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? It will mainly be used around my house when I don't feel like going to my PC. (e.g. in bed, eating, etc.) 5_How much battery life do you need? 3+, 2.5 is the MINIMUM 6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Nope. Maybe some flash game, but that is about it. WoW, BC2 on my main computer. 7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, watching movies, Etc.) Possibly watch Hulu and youtube. Word Processing would be nice. 8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need? 200g+ would be nice but 150g is what I expect. 9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them. Newegg. Amazon? 10_How long do you want to keep your laptop? 3+ years. That sounds average right? 11_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? I might install Ubuntu, and I do believe you need a CD for that. Or maybe you just need flash drive now, not sure. 12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. I don't want a brand that has a bad reputation, and I would prefer for it to have little to no crapware. I prefer AMD over Intel, but I don't think it really matters for this. 13_What country do you live in? U.S.A. 14_Please tell us any additional information if needed. As I have said, it will be a supplemental computer for my main build. I will need it to be connected to my main computer through Homegroup. Does Windows 7 starter provide that? Considering that tablets might be making another push into popularity, should I consider buying one of those instead? There is also netbook/tablets mixed. The Lenovo ideapad or something like that.
