Neutron stars are about 20 km in diameter and have the mass of about 1.4 times that of our Sun. This means that a neutron star is so dense that on Earth, one teaspoonful would weigh a billion tons! Because of its small size and high density, a neutron star possesses a surface gravitational field about 300,000 times that of Earth. Neutron stars can also have magnetic fields a million times stronger than the strongest magnetic fields produced on Earth

man its just mind boggling. 20km in diameter and 1.4 the mass of the sun. wow. :P

If you were to drop a nuclear bomb on the surface the explosion would only rise a couple milimeters. Those things have some serious mass.

I was under the impression the energy from the nuclear reaction would be compressed and the explosion would jet from the source due magnetic sheer. Similar effect we see from sun spots.

But I am no specialist in blowing up nuclear weapons on the surfaces of uber dense stars.

The gravity of a neutron star is so immense that it would keep the explosion that close to the surface.

I'm no specialist either. It's just one of those random facts I learned in class.
