Look into the HP series of laptops. I recommend one with the core I7 for power, 4GB ram, windows 7 64bit, and a 500GB drive. Since you're doing siting building you'll want a decent video card - anything with a 230, 240, or better will be fine.
you don't want a mac is most people don't have macs. You gotta think about your base viewers which most will be windows. It's easier in windows as well because of better application support.
