I have a Dell Dim 2400 with XP Home and SP2.

It's not really a problem, but every so often when I close OE 6.0, it does a
compaction.

It seems to do this automatically once a week or so.

Is there some way to control when it does it?

Starting with the WinXP SP2 version of OE, unless you compact OE manually,
OE will ask if you want it to compact your folders after every 100 closings
and will continue to do so at every closing of OE until you actually do the
compaction.

Actually, you're probably better off compacting on your own, after going
into Offline mode, about once a week or so.

It doesn't ask, It just does it.
