I hadn't seen any of these but just heard about this one from Sager. I would assume that the big guys (dell, hp, ibm, toshiba, etc...) will be following up with this too. And, maybe I just haven't noticed people talking about it but take a look at the specs on this new model.

Scroll down just a little and notice the one model called:
Sager 8890

<A HREF="http://sagerforums.com/showthread.php3?s=2bb7dfa8f14011f4c7f7b3f15486e92e&threadid=3893" target="_new">sager forums new/rumors</A>

what I find interesting is this:
"Intel® Pentium® 4 2.4/2.5/2.6/2.8/3/3.2GHz (800FSB) w/HT"

WOW... 800fsb -- on a notebook.

Now, I know we've had a lot of conversations about SAGER (and how some people hate 'em and others love 'em and/or they suck etc... I don't know, never seen or used one) and the "no-name-brand" versions but if these guys are heading down the 865PE chipset, I'm *assuming* the others will be going that direction or something similar too.

Anyway, kind of exciting ... they are saying this will be out in JULY/AUGUST timeframe. Plus, they are using that new ATI 9600 vid.

Sorry if this is old news to the regulars here but this got me really excited about the next few months!!

Have a good one ... peace. -ot

You are right. It's a lot to get excited about! I would be very impressed if they could get an 800MHz FSB P4-m processor. I can't wait till the Mobility Radeon 9600 is released with a Dell (hehe as long as it is the same size as my current card. "upgrade" :p)

All we need now is decent notebook sound...

Rapture, No kidding - the PentM would be awesome. Man, I don't see them doing that right now -- maybe down the road. I don't know the tech aspects per se but I'm assuming that might be more difficult to achieve the 800fsb with a PentM cpu ???

what do you think? that sure would be nice to have lower powered cpus but running the 800fsb and dual channel ram -- then, we'd still have good performing, lightweight notebooks along with a faster chipset.

can't wait to see what is going to happen... -ot

he was referring to the p4m not the Pm based on the centrino. I can't wait for the dothans THOSE will be nice. I refuse to lug a 10lb sager everywhere though. For Gods sake those things creak under their own weight. they are so big they have their own gravity field. My friend just finished planting an american flag on the southern pole of his. I don't care how fast it is if it's not portable enough it had might as well be in a 60lb antec case running off a generator that's in my backpack. Not to mention the price of those things, hell I can go buy an ocean liner for less - it'll probably weigh less than the sager.

LOL ... I know what you mean. BTW, I meant P4M ... not PM ... sry 'bout that.

Yeah, I'm hoping these new systems though can be in the 6-7 lb range or at least have some of the features but I'm doubting we'll see that when all these first come out. Maybe down the road some.

Papasmurf, I like your analogies (We have the same thoughts on those Sagers).

I don't suppose it would be any harder to do. I mean a P4-m, and a P4 are all but identical - if a P4 can do it, a P4-m can do it too, the problem is just a lack of Chipsets - oh, and you'd probably need to introduce active cooling for the Northbridge too (which notebooks dont have...).
