intel seem to be having huge problems with the scotty...
rumours abound of release with 533fsb due to problems at 800. and inquirer claims a q2 04 release date http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=12353.. great time for amd if they can capitalise on this
And aliens have landed and we're all gonna die etc.

Looks like intel is hitting a brick wall. I mean, the P4 3.06 was intro-ed in november 2002. Going by the rumours, intel would be happy to reach 3.6, maybe 3.8 GHz by november 2004. That is ~12% increase per year for 2 years ! From november 2000 to november 2002 they managed a 50% clock increase each year (1.5 -> 3.06 GHz)

yea thats true.. and if they really are going to be launching scotty at 533 just so they have something to show means they are starting to get desperate.. also if they want any speed increas over the p4c they are going to need some horrendous multipliers! and the p4ee looks to be released on november 4th... paper release anyone? lol
Now I'm even more happy with my current system. No need to upgrade for the next 6 months or so.

the way i read it is that the initial scotties will be 533.
i agree the celerons will also be 533 but thats another matter. it seems intel are having trouble at 800 and so have dropped to 533 for the initial launch to buy themselves time to sort any issues out. it also means they can keep the launch date i suppose
