We've seen lots of threads, but I'm curious if anyone
here owns just one pinball machine. I know LOTS of
collectors and none of them is limited to just one.

I just have one - White Water. I am looking for Whirlwind though . . . . .
So yeah, I've got the bug.

If you only have one, then is it a collection?

Impossible without having the shakes, when you even hear of another
game being available.

Yes, you win. I tried to have just one.

....Actually did a good job.... for a while.

I had a Stern Magic for several years before adding a Gottlieb Volcano.

After Magic and Volcano vacated, I had a Bally Power Play on its own
for several years. Had Xenon for several years by itself.

Currently have five. Could not see myself going back to just one.

Will have zero when I croak!!!

Just one here - a TSPP - but the limit is more due to space than choice.
Still, I keep hoping Stern will come out with another machine I just have to
have (I do love that NIB smell), never mind where I'll end up putting it.

Although every now and then I go on hunts for minty ones I wouldn't mind
owning used... like RS, CV, MB, SC or NGG.

I've got just one, but I've only had it for a year. Since it's a
system 80 (Black Hole), it's only worked for a few months out of that
year. I do have 6 arcade games though.
For me, it's not really a matter of not wanting another pin (God know's
I'd kill for a row of like 5 or 6). It's a matter of space (two
bedroom apt, where BR#2 is the gameroom), and money (3rd year teacher
salary). $600+ for anything is pretty much out of question...that's a
month's rent. Black Hole was $325 because it was not working and only
about a 7 cosmetically before I restored it. Arcade games are
different because I can get a nonworking one cheap and fix it for
almost nothing as well.

I know a guy who has just one...But he wishes he had more. I have
bought games off of people who only had one...So yes, some people here
only have one. The question is - Are you satisfied with only one? Or is
it just a matter of time...

I had King of Diamonds at least 5 years before I bought pin #2. But,
that was before I called myself a "collector". I was just a lowly (and
not particularly good) "player" then...

I don't think you can own _any_.

After awhile, they own you......

Nice! I agree! The Damn things seem to run both my very limited spare
time and my future purchases! I guess "they" have taken over!~Pinball

back with three.

My first pin was a Gottlieb Aquarius pin, which I bought back in '93 I
think. Until I moved, in '97, that was the only pin I had. Once you get
more space and meet others at shows, rgp, etc., the idea of just one pin is
pretty much out the window:)

Are we all just that bad? I had one pin, first one I ever had, lasted
maybe 6 months before I had to give it a friend, then another, then
another. Now I resort to telling my wife im just gettting one to shop
and sell it. Yea right. getting #5 next week 68 student prince for 50
bucks, you just cant pass it up.

ah the old "buy one to sell at the show" lie. It's how I justify
having 2 of a couple machines - sure, I'd like to sell them, but then -
which backglass do I keep for mine??? Which one is REALLY in better
shape? Hmmm...... and of course, if I do finally bring one to a show to
sell, you KNOW I'm buying another at the show to replace it with. "But
honey, it was a good deal!!"

I have just one. Have had it for about a year. But to OldSchool's
point, I would have more if I had the money and the space. (And if I
had the money, I would make the space!)
