Tech: 5V is 3V in a DE

first question is:
will a system 11 PSU work in an early data east? the board layout is nearly
identical and the connectors are the exactly the same. anyone ever try
this?

Reason for this is my Time Machine quit working [won't boot and make aweful
noises]. I meansured voltage on the boards test points and it's 3V instead
of 5V. I hooked a PC PSU up to it and CPU boot fine so I know it's a PSU
issue.

voltage input plugs are in great shape [no burns], no cold solder joints on
DB1. any other ideas or just rebuilt all the components associated with 5V?

like to swap in a power supply from my fire sitting next to it for
troubleshooting, but don't wan to let the magic smoke out.

Yes it _should_be.

You will need the schematics for
both boards to double check for
your specific application(s).

I have received DE games with
WMS power supplies in them, but I've
not verified that anything was altered

Pull out dem manuals! ;)

Wire in a PC power supply to the cabinet switch and forget about it.

The System 11 power supplies are plug and play for non DMD Data East pins. The
older ones can be used but they need to retrofitted with the new 4 pin GI
connector on a cable.

3V is usually a bad, bridge cap or diode.
