Hi,

I recently set-up a P4 3Ghz 800FSB system, my question is about the speed of the FSB, I ran a 3D Mark test and the end results stated my FSB was running at 200.

How can I change this from 200 to 800, or is the 3D Mark result wrong? Is there a tool that I can use to see the system performance that reports things like the FSB speed?

P4 3Ghz 800fsb CPU
Abit IS7- i865PE Springdale 800fsb DDDR Mobo
512Mb PC3200 (PC400) DDR Memory
Creative 64Mb GeForce 2 Pro
Windows XP Pro

I have Duplicated this message on the Motherboard & Chipset board.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

FSB is measured in two ways, actual speed and effective speed. Intel has a quad pumped FSB, meaning for each clock they can transfer 4 bits of data, thereby giving an effective speed of 4 times the FSB. AMD only has a double pumped FSB, similar to DDR memory, it can only transfer 2 times the speed of the FSB.
therefore, if you have an actual speed of 200 MHz, on intel you have an effective 800 MHz FSB.
hope this helps you some.
Cheers

200xQuadPump=800

Now, change your damn video card before we have to beat you within an inch of your life. A geforce 2 does NOT belong in a 3ghz box. That is intrinsicly wrong on many levels.

Depends what you're getting. If you're getting a 9500 pro/9600xt or better, I'd say go with the Rad. If you're getting anything less I'd say go with the Geforce4.

Don't believe what you hear, there aren't any "pumps" involved, Intel uses a Quad Data Rate (QDR) bus. There is no such thing as a "QP" bus.

It's not even in the ballpark performance wise though. Better off with a 9700 Pro in some cases and a 9800 pro 128mb in the vast majority of all others.

except price wise. Both those cards seem to go over 250. I can't find a full 9800np for under 259, and can't find a 9700pro for under 250. So when you factor that in...
