I started up my computer this morning and sure enough the speed dropped from 2.4ghz to 1.2ghz. Says multiplier is set to 100x12, I imagine it has to be set at 200x12, since my processor is a P4 w/800 FSB. I am also using an ABIT IS7 board. Soft menu says that my estimated speed is 2.4ghz, but frequency is 1.2ghz. I've had this setup since june 2003, so what is going on with it. Someone please help. Do I need to try and get Intel to work with me on the warranty or should I format my computer. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Have you done any OCing?

No overclocking, but my computer still works. The speed has just been reduced somehow. Is this a safety mechanism?

Check your heatsink.

You might have a bad battery. Check to see if your time is correct, if not replace the battery.
