Hi guys I just built a computer with these specs:
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
AMD x4 955 @ stock
M4A785TD-V EVO
4GB DDR3 1333MHZ RAM
NVIDIA GTX 470
XFX 650W XXX EDITION PSU
Antec 300
Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM Caviar Blue
and an optical drive (a writemaster I think)

But i want to start doing video editing on it and using fraps. But I currently have a 1440x900 monitor so i kinda need a higher resolution monitor because i want HD. But I am not sure what res to go for 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 or even a different res? I dont know, but also take into account I still want to run my games smoothly on the new monitor- So I was wondering whether I should even get a monitor if my computer can't handle it. But if you think my computer can handle games like bad company 2, just cause 2 and crysis 2 (when it comes out) all maxed at the resolution chosen then great, i'm just unsure on what to do...

My budget is about £150

Thanks guys.

Almost every company stopped making cheap TN, 1920x1200 monitors at 24" because they figure cutting screen space by 10% and make it a little wider at 1920x1080 saves a lot of cost and people won't know the difference.

There are professional IPS based monitors at 1920x1200 resolution but thats out of your budget.

The only sensible option is to get a cheap 1080P monitor @ 22" - 24".
Your system would handle it just fine, it should look times better than your 1440x900 monitor still.
