CANNOT PLAY SOME MUSIC IN WINDOWS 7

Hello,
CHANGED FROM WINDOWS XP TO WINDOWS 7 AND THIS IS THE MESSAGE I RECEIVE WHEN TRYING TO PLAY MUSIC IN WINDOWS MEDIA
The license cannot be downloaded because your Web browser is not supported.

To download a license, you must install Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or later.

To install the latest version of Internet Explorer, see the Windows Update page.

  1. What browser are you using? What format is the music saved as (i.e. MP3s)?

    Hi,
Using IE 9 , sorry don't know what format and don't know how to find the answer to that. used windows media or ashampoo to burn the cd when using xp
  3. Check this link for some possible help:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-xp/help/windows-media-player/11/album-info

    Also, consider this:

You just stop Windows Media Player from searching for the licenses. Go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy tab ->

Uncheck the first three -> Display media info from the internet -> Update music files info from the internet -> Download usage rights

On the Player tab uncheck -> connect to the internet
  4. Just look for the windows 7 media codec pack. Google it install it

Get from a reliable site or you may end up with some serious malware as a result.
  6. Download VLC player it will play everything even apple stuff.

Thanks for all your help and pointing me in right direction
stopped Windows Media Player from searching for the licenses.
Went on to web and downloaded migrate Licence and all is fine.
Perhaps I forgot to mention it was a new computer and you obviously need a licence for each computer!
