Hello,
I am getting ready to build a system that will be used for music recording, gaming and general use. I would like some opinions on the components I've chosen, as well as if I am getting it for good prices. I am getting ready to purchase on newegg.com. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

($88)ABIT IS7-E Motherboard
($175)Intel Pentium 4 / 2.6CGHz 800 MHz
($39) LinkWorld Black/Silver ATX Mid-Tower Case
($74) Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM Hard Drive Model # 6Y080L0
(2@$38 - $76) - PMI-Power Memory Int. 256MB DDRAM PC3200
($83)Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
($99)EVGA GeForce FX 5600XT 128MB
($46) AOpen - 48x24x48x16 CDROM/CDRW/DVD Combo Drive

Thanx for your input
Barry

good but there is no such thing as a 5600xt, there is a 9600XT but thats ATI. dont bother with a 5600 they are expensive and cant match the 9600pro or XT's performance.

for your soundcard buy the NX which is the new one out. its cheaper and generally better quality. overall its a good system if your not going to OC too much.

I think I'd spend the extra $10 for the Abit IS7. The added features will be worth it eventually even if you don't use them for a while. The IS7-E removes the Firewire and SATA RAID controller found on the IS7.

The NX is an Extigy card which is external with USB connection, he wants the Audigy 2 ZS which is internal so it's fine.

There is a 5600XT, its a cut down version of the 5600.
