Hi guys,

This is my first barton with this stepping and Ive read that this mofo should be able to do 200 fsb in its sleep but I cannot make it break over 192, get blue screens in benchmarks. My theory is that when I go over this, I break the the pcibus limit, but the nforce2 board supposed to have this locked to 33 no matter wat I do. I have the A7N8X-deluxe mobo with geil pc3500. Has anyone else ran in this problem with this mobo? Is is the CPUs limit and a teak needs to be done with the mobo. And tricks and info would be great about this chip. Thanks....

I strongly suggest you drop your CPU multiplier a few notches and get the FSB all the way to to 200MHz.

If it works, start upping the multiplier by .5 at a time.

Make sure you try this with a single memory stick, nForce2 mobos don't like some memory modules being paired up in dual channel mode, that's why manufacturers charge an extra for paired modules.

Avoid running your board on a FSB that can't be factored by 33.3~, the aproppriate FSB divider won't kick in until a certain speed, It is possible that the board is dividing the 192MHz FSB by 5 just like it would do for a 166MHz FSB, giving you an evil 38MHz PCI bus, 15% over PCI specs.

Even if your CPU is from a particularly good stepping, it is possible that it barely passed the 2500+ requirements, keep in mind that 11.0 x 192MHz = 2112MHz, a 280MHz overclock, making it slightly slower than a 3200+, nothing to be ashamed of.

I used to have an A7N8X Deluxe Rev 1.04 and it would only do 192mhz fsb. You need a revision 2 or better to do 200+. I now have an Abit NF7-s 2.0 and do 210+ easy.

Youd think but it is not. It also maybe this cpu and it would break over or the PCI bus has a locking problem.

PCI Bus is always locked in nForce2 mobos.

Memory timings to 2.5 3 4 8 ? Backed off a bit...
CPU voltage to 1.7v?

If the other poster is correct and it is your motherboard that is limiting your fsb then you just have to update the BIOS.

ASUS has an update for revison 1.xx, A7N8X deluxe boards that lets them handle a 200Mhz FSB.

I have the same board, 'cept it's revision 2.xx. My 2500 can be oc'd to 11*200 @ 52 degrees C but I'm scared to destroy it or whatever else that could come of it.
