I am looking to upgrade my computer a little bit, but also looking to plan for the future early. I am going to keep my Monitor, GFX card <Sapphire 9700Pro Ult. Ed.>, Burner, and CD-Rom.

1. Thermaltake Xaser III V1420+U <Need a new Case>
2. VANTEC's Tornado (Double Ball-Bearing) Fan.
3. Thermalright SLK-900-A
4. Antec Cyclone Blower, Expansion Slot Fan
5. 2 Western Digital Raptor 36GB SATA
6. CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series,Twin Pack) 1GB(2 x 512MB) 2x(64MX64) TWINX1024-4000 PRO Matched Pair
7. MSI Motherboard forDual/Single Socket 940 for AMD® Opteron Processors, ChipsetVIA® K8T800™, Model K8T Master2-FAR
8. AMD Athlon 64 FX51

I have the money to spend but let me know what you guys think

- Registered memory modules are required for the current Athlon 64 FX. I'd suggest the PC3200 ECC Registered 1GB Dual-Pack from OCZ.

- If not going to get two processors, select a single-socket motherboard.

As i understand it, Zalman makes a good Heatsink+Fan for this processor. You may want to contact the Heatsink+Fan manufacturer to make sure its' product is compatible with the motherboard/CPU you choose.

What do you need the system for? I notice you haven't specced a Graphics card. If you want to play games you'll certainly need a good one.

In terms of raw processing power it'll be pretty kick-ass though.

yeap you need registered memory in order to work....good looking system. It will be overly noisy and useless unless you are overclocking....I suggest a quieter fan such as the panasonic panaflo axial fans (push alot of air and are quiet)....go with the ati radeon 9700 or 9800 pro for a graphics card...

Good rig setup just make sure you get ecc ram. That otta get you some braggin righst for about a month.
