thanks martin!

mine is completely missing and I need to fab one up.
anyone know a good source for the material?

Martin,
you might want to throw a couple reference dimensions in there in case
some people can't figure out how to plot it to scale, or so they can
check that it is to scale.

I bet you could get good results getting the heavy builders felt from
home depot or some other building supply store. It's easy to cut and
feels about the same.

isn't that the stuff you use as roof underlayment material?
aka tar paper?

Nice work Martin. Mine is toast, this will make reproducing it easy.

You might consider uploading this to ipdb.org since many collectors don't
see RGP.

Where's a good place to buy 1/32" black fiberboard?

Thanks - this will save many people time!

yep, that's what it looks like to me under my playfield (although
probably the heavier version 50lb?)

John got the material right. It is 1/32" black fiberboard. The material
is surprisingly expensive, around $6 per square foot is the best that I
have found. It is a close relative to fishpaper.

I bought a piece of black PVC from TAP Plastics that I am going to try.

I could have these machine cut, but am looking at about $300 to start.
A kit of the fiberboard parts, including the little fiberboard light
shields, would be about $25 including shipping. So I would need about a
dozen interested parties to make this one go.

I think that the design could be improved by bringing the fiberboard
closer to the wood, shutting out more light for those of us with aging
holograms.

I used 1/32" black foam sheet to close the rest of the light gaps on
mine. There is no stress or impacts on the shroud at all so anything,
even plain old black poster board would do the job splendidly and at
minimal cost. No need to over engineer this part :)
