Computer won't start

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs Computer won't start

Computer won't start at all, no noise, no fans spinning, nothing. So I tried to rule out a few stuff:
Mobo has green light indicating it is getting power from PSU
Removed every single card and drive, after that, memory too.
Shorted out the power switch on the mobo using a screw driver and not the power switch on the case.
Setup:
P4 1.9A FSB400.
Intel 850MV
2x128MB PC800 Rambus.
All the stuff is still under warranty, but the people at the place I bought it from are ass-holes! They made me pay for technical assistance after I wasn't able to install OS - But in the end it turned out that one of the memory spot fillers they gave me was burnt (think I got a refund?). So I have to be certain where the problem is or they'll screw me again.

Recheck connections, especially the power button connection on mobo. If no good, take out the mobo, lay it on cardboard, hookup atx power and power button connections. Leave cpu, ram and gfx card on the mobo. Disconnect all other cards and drives. Hook up monitor and see if that puppy will POST. Listen for beep codes which help troubleshoot if there is a problem POSTing. Good Luck:)

If it POSTs , add cards etc. one at a time to isolate problem.

BTW, They do sound like a-holes at that shop.

List your system components if you post back for additional help

Even you see a green light, you may still want to check the PSU. You can do this by disconnecting the PSU from the mobo. Hold the connector with the lock on the top, PLEASE CHECK THE COLOR HERE< I DONT HAVE A PSU IN FRONT OF ME Connect the (I belive) 4th wire from the left it should be GREEN with the 6th wire, it should be BLACK together. That will fake out your PSU and it should fire up with all the fans, HDD's and so on. IF it dosent. Well, PSU is bad. Good luck.

I get that you are talking about the regular mobo power connection and not the 6 wire one I've never seen anyone use. Anyways, there are 2 rows of wires and it's hard to tell what to connect and I'd rather not expose wires cause I'm too scared I'd screw up something. But if there's something I can do with the 6 wire connector I don't mind cause I don't think I'll ever use it.
