Transferring data from Windows ME to Windows XP(Pro)

Hi folks.

Wonder if anyone would be kind enough to offer some advice. I HAVE seen this
posted in groups before, but never had previous need for it, but now I have.

Palm Desktop 4.1 on PC running Windows ME, for Palm TT.

NEW PC running Windows XP-Pro

How to I ensure that I get all the data across to my new PC, please??

Just the details within the Palm user file on my old PC?

And what about the programmes (Splash Data, Documents to go etc)?

Would appreciate any positive (helpful) feedback, or the Palm Solution
number (if anyone knows it)

Thanks folks

PS/
Anyone know of any "issues" with Documents to Go, and the tabs it places
within Word, to enable the direct sending of Word docs to DocToGo?
Thanks again, in anticipation

I went from win 95 to win XP home.

I can't help with docs to go etc - but for the basic palm applications
and data:

Sync palm on old pc so it is bang up to date
Load palm desktop on new pc from disc or download
Right click 'hotsync' icon in tool tray, go to custom
Highlight each 'conduit' in turn, click change, change to 'handheld
overwrites desktop'
Do not set as default
Close that dialogue
Sync - you might get a message asking you to confirm user name
By magic - all the data is now on your new desktop

IME you don't need to fiddle with the conduits. For a new build, given the
complete absence of data on the PC side, Hotsync will automatically know it
has to copy data from the handheld. There will be nothing on the PC to send
back to the Palm and no flags for deleted data etc..

Having said that, DocsToGo won't know into which folder to place the docs
from the Palm so they will all get dumped straight into My Documents, which
may not be where they came from or where you want them to be. But I don't
see that forcing a one-way hotsync will keep DTG any better informed about
the correct file locations. You'll have to reset all the document links in
DTG if you want your docs elsewhere.

I suspect you are right - but as I am a total pessimist I didn't want to
trust the machine to work it out for itself !

I wasn't suggesting that this would help with docs to go - I've not used
it.
