Okay, here's the system I ordered 5 months ago, and after many changes/back orders, you'll see what my arguement is about (back ground afterwards):

Antec Performance Plus 1080AMG w/430 watt PS
Intel P4 3.2 800FSB
Asus P4C800-deluxe
2x Corsair PC3500 512 (CMX512A-3500C2)
Western Digital 1200JB 8mb cache IDE drive
Panasonic 1.44 FD
Plextor PX-W4824TA/SW 48x24x48 CDRW Int. w/software
Ati Radeon 9800 pro 128
altec Lansing 5100
Logitech Elite KB
MS Intellimouse Optical
Sony CPD-G410R 19" monitor
WinXP Pro

- Okay in the last 5 months, the CPD-G410R has gone out of production, aswell as the Altec Lansing 5100's, The 9800XT has come out (at a better cost then the 9800pro), the 3.2's have come way down in price. the only reason I STILL don't have my system, the way I originally wanted (which really is a blessing in disguise now) is that the company I am dealing with was having a really hard time getting the 3.2's.

Anywho, after 5 months and many changes later. This is the email I just sent them earlier today, does my thinking sound like a fair deal for both parties after 152 DAYS of a system order?

Hey ******,

Would have replied as soon as I got home last night, but needed to do a little research/thinking first.

Thanks for the offered upgrades, Beyond appreciated!!

But here's the thing:

The CMX3500 performs better at stock speeds then the 3700LL's.. and although I'm not certain which set of TwinX ram you were thinking of placing in, either 2x Twin-X512-3700, or one set of Twin-X1024 3700LL's, I would still be getting back either $11.00 or $27.50, and with paired modules, I'd really prefer then the Kingston KHX3500K2/1G (PC3500 (DDR434) 2x512MB DDR HyperX (KHX3500K2/1G) - name listed on your site). Which is a savings of 38.00 over 2 sticks of CMX3500. ($418.00 - 385.00 = 38.00)

Aswell, thanks for the offer of the Norton Anti-virus, but I use (and will also be using on this system) Ontrack System Suite ver. 5.0. The anti-virus utility is by far better then Norton, so there's no need to install Norton. Thanks for the offer though!! :)

Onto the S-ATA drives. I'll take that upgrade to the WD1200JD, and although I'd love to set up a Raid-0 array, I'm waiting a couple of years til the Raptor 74's are down in price, and using those, but I have this definitive thought aswell.

Do you have two Raptor WD740GD's in stock? If so, I noticed on this months Visa statement that I haven't been refunded back the price drops which have occurred on the CPU etc. If memory serves it's in the $550 range that should be coming back. If I was to change the WD1200JB into two WD740GD's, it would cost roughly $632.50 (-141.90 +387.20 +387.20 = 632.50), and if we use the 62.75 savings from Norton and on the Ram, it comes too $569.75 total for these two drives.

So what I've worked it out too is this system spec (with accurate math below):

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Antec 1080 plus AMG w/430 PSU
P4 3.2 CPU
Asus p4c800-E Deluxe
Kingston KHX3500K2/1G
2x WD740GD - Set in a Raid-0 array, with an 8 -12kb cluster size (it's a gaming rig - obviously)
Sony FDD - Black
Plextor PX-W4824TA/SW 48x24x48x CD-RW Black
ATI Radeon 9800XT
Logitech Elite Keyboard
MS Intelli. Optical (OEM)
Logitech Z-5300 speaker system
Win XP Pro
LGE F900P

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This comes too a total of $4,071.10, or $4,428.94 after tax and shipping.

My original down-payment was $746.75 (June 27th), plus the $3560.20 charged on October 4th 2003 = $4306.95.

Now, because you charged me on October 4th, for the system ($3560.20), which in all honesty, I don't believe you should have charged me, until all of the components were in stock and in hand, I've paid $90.37 in interest charges (I just called Visa to find out total interest cost on that purchase billed on Oct 4th), so now I've paid $4397.32 on a system I ordered 152 days ago (not including June 24th the date I placed the order), this comes to a difference of $31.62 more then the original purchase cost. Now if I just take the 2 years parts and warranty over the 3 years which you offered (- $44.00) it becomes a difference of $12.38.

I'm willing to eat that $12.38 for the exact above system spec's, in return for the time in which this system has taken to put together. In other words, the above system w/3 year warranty, would put us at 100% even (technically you would be out $31.62, because the extended warranty comes at no cost what-so-ever to you). sound good to you?
