My laptop just died so I am looking for a new one but don't know which one to chose. The type i'm finding the most interesting right now is the Asus UL80Vt, any opinions on that one?

1_What is your budget? Max $1600, best around or under $1000

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 14" would be the ideal size for me

3_What screen resolution? My old laptop had a 15,4" screen with resolution of 1680*1050 which i found very good. In light of that i'm searching for a smaller screen I think 1366*768 would be the lowest resolution i would consider.

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Portable. Mostly used in my studies so a slim and light one would be great.

5_How much battery life do you need? As much as possible

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Not really. Only Football Manager.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, watching movies, Etc.) No heavy programs but i would use it to watch movies and tv shows and listen to music.

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need? As much as possible. 320gb+ would be great.

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them.
no specific site.

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop? My laptop just died, little under 4 years old, so i would say hopefully 4 years +.

11_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? I would need a dvd burner. Haven't looked into blue ray rom's but open for it.

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. My last laptop was IBM Thinkpad Z61M which i liked very much, but these machines are pretty expensive now. I like Asus machines very much and also open for Lenovo, Apple and maybe Dell. Brands i don't like are Acer, HP, Fujitsu Siemens and Packard Bell, all because i've heard so many awful things about them.

13_What country do you live in?
Iceland, but i'm moving to Denmark. Open for stores in the UK, Scandinavia or Germany.

14_Please tell us any additional information if needed. I would prefer a 64 bit computer with Windows 7, not less than 4GB RAM and HDMI output would be great.

I hope you can help me with this choise. There are way to many options out there.

Regards,
snosig

Here is a Fujitsu with much better specs than the UL80VT

It's weighs the same, has the same screen size and has a much faster processor.

Thanks alot for your opinion.

I think 16 inches is to big to be carrying around all the time.

Regarding the Fujitsu machine, it only has 1GB RAM vs. 4GB, 160GB HDD vs 320GB.

But it has faster processor, but the Asus UL80Vt has a "Turbo mode" which boosts the processor alot. The Fujitsu though seems to have a turbo mode also according to your link, but it's extra $450 which is alot. I think the UL80Vt processor with turbo mode is fast enough for what i have in mind.

The Fujitsu has Turbo boost up to 2.93 GHz. The i5 is a MUCH faster processor. There is an empty memory slot you can use to bump the memory up as well. For your stated uses 2gb of memory will be fine.
