Gateway 6834 xp install hard drive not recognized

Attempting to downgrade to XP on Gateway 6834, formatted the drive but xp does not recognize the disk to install OS. Is there a third party driver to install before attempting to install XP.

What OS are you downgrading from? Check out Gateway's support site for your model and see if they have a specific driver for XP (if there is just a Vista one, it may be worth a shot). If not, contact Gateway support and see if the drive in it is supported by XP.
