I.E. on an Optern 24x board? How well do they work? Worth it? (I mean 2 processors, not 1 on a dual board).

nVidia didn't make me an nVidia fanboy, ATi, and lack of other serious competition made me an nVidia fanboy.

Probably not some hypertransport links may be disabled so i doubt it will be able to smp. You would be better off with an opteron 2XX.

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor

Nope, FX-51 can not work in dual CPU configurations. You'll need two 2xx Opterons for that:

AMD Opteron Model 246 2.0GHz Retail $802
AMD Opteron Model 244 1.8GHz Retail $464

Just an FYI:

Pricewatch has the 246 for 708...

Re: Athlon FX do not support SMP.

I'm not saying they do or they don't.. BUT as I remember the athlonxp does not support smp yet as I remember you could cut or connect a couple of bridges and it worked. Still it sounds like a bad idea to me.

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

I thought the fx51 (right now anyway) use socket 940.
