For those of us that cant afford dual opteron gaming rigs.

Telling performance
Conclusion: Intel REALLY need to do something about their celleron.
2.6Ghz, 128k L2 and 400fsb really dont cut it anymore.

Yes, it only confirms what everybody knows. But I was surprised even a Duron can beat a lot higher clocked Celeron!

Question is, the is anybody who builds his own computer that thinks on a Celly as a REAL option???

I am sure these CPU are sold 99% to big system integrators for building cheap PCs that sound powerfull. "With Intel Extreme Graphics 2 inside!"

Still looking for a good online retailer in Spain :frown:

Yeah, the MHZ is everything approach, but don't worry, give it time... Even the biggest idiots will learn.

Is 2^33634943-1 prime? (more than 10Mil digits @73.31%) I will know in 10 days when Prime95 finishes checking!

lol yeah.

What i did find suprising was that with semi decent ram (i.e. not PC2100 or sdram) the celleron still failed to shine in anything!

I would have thought there was something the sheer Mhz would make up for. something simple.

what a waste

No, people won't learn. They still buy SUV's for commuting to work, they still buy SFF PC's, Emachines, Hewlett Packards, etc (all examples of the same type of system).

I think nForce2 + AXP based SFF PC's are quite good, at least much better than these Celerons.

I can get an Emachines XP2400+ system for $369. I just fixed an HP with i865G chipset, it had a P4.

What's yer beef with SFF PCs? If I wanted a machine just for web surfing and stuff (and consequently from stopping my main PC from being infiltrated with .net crap), then I rather have an SFF than a big ugly box.

"Some mice have two buttons. Macintosh has one. So it's extremely difficult to push the wrong button." - Apple ad. circa 1984.

Then buy yourself a book-sized PC, it's the smallest form factor.

No, they bought the system as a customer return with the drive formatted, the system backup partition was gone, and they couldn't find the drivers online.
